About this course

This course offers an advanced approach to philosophy, suitable for students who have some background in metaphysics or logic, and who may be interested in continuing into 4th year Honours. In this course we study the metaphysics of David Lewis, a leading analytic philosopher of the second half of the twentieth century.

Learning outcomes

1demonstrate familiarity with some of the most important ideas in contemporary metaphysics;
2appreciate how systematic philosophy can be constructed;
3develop arguments for a philosophical position; and
4display skill in writing research papers in philosophy.
